Lynita White

Areas of Expertise:

Concussion, low back pain, shoulder, pain, knee pain/injury, athletes, neck pain/cervicogenic headaches, weight loss

Programs: Concussion

Lynita discovered her passion for rehabilitation and physiotherapy after a sports injury of her own. During her third year studying psychology at Queen’s University, she tore her ACL. After months of excellent physiotherapist-guided rehabilitation, she was able to come back to sport, and returned to play in Canada’s National Ringette League (NRL). It was then that she decided to pursue a Masters in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and help others along a similar path to recovery.

While at UBC and Vancouver Coastal Health, Lynita collaborated on projects dealing with various subjects: tendon healing, chronic pain, and patient education. Her work was published in peer-reviewed academic journals for many of these topics.

After years of studying and working in rehabilitation research, Lynita decided she wanted to work directly with the people that her research was meant to help. She made a change; and so began her second Masters program. This time in Physical Therapy at UBC.

Through her studies and years of experience as a PT, Lynita has gained an extensive and impressive skill set with a wide range of clients; she’s taken a special interest in sport-related injuries, post-operative rehab, concussion, chronic pain, and geriatric rehabilitation. Lynita continues to stay up-to-date on the latest clinical research in order to provide her clients with the best possible care.

An athlete all her life, Lynita has competed in ringette from club to international level, and has coached elite teams across the Lower Mainland. She has experience providing on-field coverage as a Sports First Responder for ringette, basketball, hockey, volleyball, and rugby. While Lynita has ample experience working with athletes, she loves working with people of all abilities and experience; her treatment approach is heavily rooted in both education and functional exercise, which she combines with manual therapy and IMS (intramuscular stimulation).

On the weekends, you’ll still find Lynita at an ice rink, proudly representing British Columbia in the NRL. During the off-season, she’ll likely be making her way up a North Shore mountain, spending time amongst the tall trees in the forests she grew up exploring.

Lynita is looking forward to meeting you, and helping you reach your own goals!
